Researchers from all the institutions participating in the StretchBio project took part in the first annual meeting of the project held on Monday September 5th at the main campus of the Danmarks Tekniske Universitet (DTU) in Lyngby, about 15km from Copenhagen. The main objective of this meeting was to evaluate the work that has been done in these first 12 months of the project and to share the first results of all the work packages.
During the meeting researchers also outlined the work for the coming months based on the working plan drawn up at the start of the project. Many technical aspects were also discussed focusing on the different strategies and approaches to design the prototype of the sensor as part of the project in the coming weeks.
The meeting also served to visit the cleanroom in which DTU researchers work on the fabrication of the silicon nanopillars that most of the work packages are working with.
StretchBio is a project coordinated by the University of Barcelona and with the participation of Danmarks Tekniske Universitet (DTU), Albert-Ludwigs-Universitaet Freiburg (ALU-FR), Leitat and Readycell. The main objective of StretchBio is the design, development, fabrication, and proof of application of a nano system for monitoring the mechanical stresses in ex vivo living tissue biopsies with the final goal of its use in drug screening and personalized medicine.
